WHEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT:

1) Do I need to get 3 estimates?
No. Most insurance companies will have a field appraiser contact you and appraise the damage to your vehicle, or have you take your vehicle to an approved body shop for an appraisal.

2) Will it help if I have an estimate done before my insurance does an appraisal?
Not necessarily. Only if you want to know ASAP, or you want a comparison. Most body shops will automatically start their repairs based on an insurance appraisal. Once repairs are started, the body shop will then apply for supplemental damages with the insurance company, if anything was overlooked on original appraisal.

3) Can my deductible be saved?
No, should be the answer to this question. Some body shops will offer to save your deductible, but if they were to save it, something will not be repaired or replaced as designated on your insurance companies appraisal. This will also void any warranties offered by your insurance company, and could be considered insurance fraud.

4) Why do I have a deductible?
When you purchase auto insurance you select the amount you are willing to pay in case of an accident, theft, etc. Your premiums are based on this amount. You and your insurance carrier then become
co-insurers of your vehicle, each of you paying your agreed portion of the repairs after having an accident. A deductible only applies if you are at fault and then only on your vehicle.

5) Do I get a warranty on my repairs?
Yes, you should always receive a warranty when your vehicle is delivered to you. Be sure and check with the body shop you have selected to get an exact description of the warranty you will receive on the repairs and paint on your vehicle.
